Fashion rules the royal family follows

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the duration of your life, you’ll know that the royal family is kind of a big deal. In fact, we think it’s safe to say that they are the biggest deal in the world right now! Over the years, Prince Harry and William have held the fort when it comes to style and substance, but the new invasion of stylish women into the family has brought the British monarchy back into the 21st Century. After all, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are the definition of fabulous! Although both of these women like to embrace the latest trends, it seems as though there are a few fashion rules the royal family has to follow…

You have to rock bright colors

Queen Elizabeth may be in her 90s, but have you noticed that she is still able to rock some of the coolest and quirkiest outfits out there? Well, this is because royals are often required to wear brightly colored clothing – especially if they are going to be in large crowds. This is because the royal family are required to stand out. People flock from around the world to see these royals in the flesh, and these people need to be able to pick them out of the crowd even if they are far away.

Gloves are a must

The royal family meet thousands of people every single year, and most of these people are complete strangers. Because of this, they can’t take risks when it comes to germs. They need to ensure that they keep their hands covered at all times when they are shaking the hands of their subjects, to make sure that they are steering clear of any unwanted illnesses. While they may be a necessity, the royal family know how to make a glove look stylish – especially Kate Middleton!

Black is almost always a no

You will rarely ever see a royal wearing a black ensemble, and that’s because it’s frowned upon to wear black just because they wanted to. As a royal requirement, every member of the royal family has to take a black outfit with them wherever they go, just in case they are faced with an unexpected passing. Because black is associated with mourning, royals try to avoid wearing it.

Coats and jackets must always stay on

Kate Middleton always looks flawless when she wears her iconic dress-and-overcoat ensemble, but have you ever wondered how she can continue to wear a coat in such warm weather? Well, it seems as though a royal rule is stopping her from whipping off her jacket and enjoying the breeze. In fact, it is considered incredibly unladylike and undignified if a lady removes an outer layer while in public.

Clutches come in handy

There’s nothing better than a good ol’ clutch bag. If you’re going to an event, they are the perfect size. After all, you don’t want to take a huge purse, but you also don’t want to carry your keys in your underwear. Yet, it seems as though the royals have another use for their clutch bags. To avoid showing the cameras too much skin when they get out of a car, the royals place the clutch in front of them to hide themselves. Now that is smart!

Pantyhose are always better

When Meghan Markle stepped out in public with bare legs, it was reported that the Queen was definitely not amused. In her eyes, bare legs should never be seen on a royal, and it’s down to that royal to ensure that they wear pantyhose at all times. It seems as though Meghan got that message loud and clear, as she hasn’t gone bare legged since.

Being a member of the royal family is one of the biggest responsibilities to have, but it seems there’s much more to it than being friendly and shaking a few hands…
