August 31, 2001 son rolled around – the day of Aaliyah’s funeral. Here, more than 800 people all arrived to pay their respects, including some of the biggest names in the music industry. Aaliyah had worked with many people over the years and touched the hearts of many more. Rashad gave a speech during the funeral about how he will always see his younger sister’s face smiling no matter where he goes. The whole day was ended with 22 doves being released into the air – one for every year of Aaliyah’s life.
