Food combinations that are bad for your health

Let’s be honest, we all love our food, right? How great is it that we can experience so much different food these days, and enjoy cuisines from other cultures all across the world. Everyone has their favorite foods and combinations that they prefer, and there are definitely some weird combinations out there. In fact, we reckon you probably have a couple of weird combos you like to try out.

Now, you might think that there is nothing to food combinations, save for a bit of fun. But, in reality, there is actually quite a lot to think about when it comes to food combinations, and some of them can actually be bad for your health. Who knew, right?! These are some of the best examples of food combos that can be detrimental you your health – pay attention to your body!

Pizza and soda

We’ve got to admit, this is probably our favorite food combination, so we were pretty crushed to hear it’s actually bad for us. This combination actually increases false hunger pangs, as well as decreasing your satisfaction afterward. In fact, the combination can sometimes fool your body into not feeling full, which is how you are often able to finish a full pizza. Next time someone suggests a Domino’s for takeout night, you may want to rethink!

Bread and jam

Quick and easy breakfasts are essential in the fast-paced modern world, and this combination ranks among the favorite breakfast dish. However, your white bread/toast and jam in the morning might actually be detrimental long-term. Starting off the day with a combination that is high in sugar can often cause you to overindulge and eat too much over the course of the day. Add some protein, and you can help to counteract this problem.

Salad and dressing

Hold on! Salad is pretty much the healthiest thing you can possibly have, right? Wrong! Salad is actually lacking in nutrients that your body badly needs, such as alpha-carotene. Eating salad and vegetables without any fat is actually worse for your body as it doesn’t allow you to take advantage of everything the salad has to offer. The best way to deal with this issue is to add some healthy fats, such as avocado, or salmon, to your salad.

Chips and salsa

We’re sorry to wreck Super Bowl night, but, chips and dip are actually a pretty unhealthy combination. This is largely to do with the salt craving that is generated. You may think you solve the problem with the chips and salsa, but this only increases the craving further, resulting in you overeating. If you just can’t say no to the chips, try to use guacamole instead of salsa! Also, remember that too much salt can trick you into thinking you’re hungry when you are, in fact, just thirsty.

Okay, so these are just a few of the unhealthy combos we find out about when we dug a title deeper. That’s not to say you can’t try them at all, but you should definitely be wary of how much you are consuming. Make sure you don’t overdo it with these food combos – everything in moderation, remember?!
