These days, costuming is a huge endeavor in most television and movie productions. Indeed, there is an entire department dedicated to it, often led by the director’s overall vision for each scene.
However, back in the 60s, everyone except for the main cast had to dress themselves. Before shooting each day, the supporting cast would be informed what exactly they needed to be wearing, and would arrive dressed accordingly. Let’s hope the directors weren’t too picky, otherwise that could get expensive quickly!
