While many of us have dreamed about being rich and famous, with the whole world knowing our name, fame isn’t always what it is cracked up to be. Along with the luxurious lifestyle, private jets, yachts, fancy cars, endless shopping sprees, and ginormous mansions – also comes a life under the constant scrutiny of the public eye.

Although some celebrities are able to handle the pressure of being famous quite seamlessly, others have greater difficulty. Many stars have peaked at ultimate fame before eventually taking a downward spiral into chaos after crashing from the non-stop lack of privacy and the heavy burdens that come along with being famous.

Actress Lindsay Lohan was thrown into the spotlight at a young age, after her mega success from her breakthrough performance in 1998’s The Parent Trap. As she entered her teen years, her fame only grew as she appeared in a string of popular Disney Channel films, such as 2003’s Freaky Friday. In 2004, she starred in the hit comedy Mean Girls and by then, she had already earned her status as the teen It girl of Hollywood.

However, eventually the fame and pressure involved in being famous, including a non-stop work schedule, became just too much for the former child star. This led to Lohan’s struggle with illegal substances and several visits to rehab centers. While she seems to be doing much better today, and even has her own MTV reality series – Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, her career definitely is not what it use to be.
