Hershel’s death was heartbreaking, especially since we had a tiny bit of hope that he would be spared once more – after that time when he was bitten by a walker and Rick, quickly removing his bitten leg, managed to save his life. When he dies, he’s held hostage by The Governor, who wants to take the prison for his own people to live safely in. The cruel governor decapitates poor Hershel, who’s always been a peaceful man, with his daughters, Maggie and Beth, there to witness it.
