Daryl’s ill-tempered older brother, Merle, always walked the line between good and bad. When he starts off as part of the group, he causes so much trouble that Rick is forced to leave him cuffed on a rooftop. But surprisingly, Merle survives by removing his own hand, and joins The Governor’s group. When Rick’s group battle with The Governor’s, Merle chooses to stand by his brother, causing The Governor to kill him. When poor Daryl comes across his zombified brother, he breaks down, and stabs him to put him down.
