There’s nothing worse than waking up on the wrong side of the bed, right? Well, for some people, that’s every single day. While there are many people in this world that have no problems with early morning and their productivity, there are others who class themselves as “night owls,” and would much rather stay up late to complete their work instead. However, if you work in a job that requires you to be on the ball as soon as you get to the office at 9am, then it may be that you have to work on how you can be more productive in the mornings.
Get your blood pumping
If you’re the kind of person that just doesn’t feel awake in the mornings, it may be that you’re not waking up with the right kind of hormones rushing through your body. Many people find that getting up as soon as they wake up and then heading to the gym is one of the best ways to make them feel alive and awake, and that’s all thanks to the rush of endorphins they experience as they work out. This ultimately sets you up for the day and makes you feel prepared for the day ahead.
Eat a big breakfast
You’ve probably heard it before, but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. When you’re hungry, it’s important to focus on anything other than the fact that you’re craving food, which is why you won’t be able to focus on your work without having breakfast. If you can, make sure that you give yourself time to properly sit down and eat a big breakfast. This will give you energy, and it will also make your savor some downtime before you head to work.
Make a to-do list
Do you ever feel overwhelmed when you get to the office and think of all of the things you have to do? While we can’t help with the workload you have, we can help with how you manage that workload. Instead of spending the first two hours of your day trying to think of how you’re going to fit all of the work you have to do in your day, spend 15 minutes just making a to-do list and working out what needs to be done first. By doing that, you are giving yourself a schedule to stick to.
Clean your workspace
A messy desk can be extremely distracting, and many people find themselves staring at the piles of old paperwork and the candy wrappers that sit next to them rather than the work they have in front of them. Of course, the only way to deal with the mess is to clean up your workspace. By doing this, you should also be able to clear your head and go about your day with a newfound lease of life and motivation.
Stick to one task
If you have lots to do and want to have a productive morning, it can often seem logical to try and do two things at once, right? Well, not quite. Multitasking at work normally leads to error and issues, so it’s always best to focus on one thing at a time and give your full attention to each task as you get to them to avoid any mistakes.
If you struggle to stay productive and motivated in the mornings, then it may be time to re-think how you go about your mornings.
