Nobody wants to be picked up on a supposed dress code violation. It’s humiliating, and quite an invasive process to be pulled out in front of the class, or taken to the principal, because your outfit has been deemed ‘inappropriate’. What’s more, a lot of people find dress codes to be overly restrictive, and somewhat unnecessary, as most students can be trusted to wear reasonable outfits when left to themselves.

Dress codes can prove to be particularly unpopular, and unduly punishing, especially during the summer months. As temperatures rise, most people want to be able to wear looser, or less covering clothing, in an effort to stay cool.
However, because many students, especially female students, have needed to shred some layers in order to remain comfortable, they have found themselves being disproportionately punished.
