The Smiley Face Gang were believed to target college-age men and end their lives before hiding them in local rivers. They earned the name as people were discovered near smiley faces painted on walls in graffiti.
The detectives never determined if it was one or more people, but others didn’t believe the gang existed. If they did, then Brian is the only target who was never discovered. Sadly, Randy was later struck by a tree and lost his life before he ever learned the truth.
