[post_page_title]The event is for the National Garden Scheme[/post_page_title]
The idea behind letting visitors into the Royal gardens is primarily so that money can be raised for the National Garden Scheme. This scheme gives the public access to over 3,500 private gardens all over the UK. The Royal Family do not keep the money collected at the event.
They do this to raise money so that they can be given to designated charities. One day’s proceedings will be donated to the British Heart Foundation, while the second day’s proceedings will be donated to the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
