Unless you’ve been living under a rock for your whole life, you’ve probably heard of Feng Shui. But do you know what it is? Well, Feng shui is an Ancient Chinese art form that allows us to harmonize our homes and minds together, by creating happier environments for us to live in. This is obtained by allowing your chi to flow freely through you rooms – which means you may have to juggle your furniture around a little! Applying Feng shui to your bedroom can drastically improve your sleeping patterns, your mood, and your success. So why not try it out?
Place your bed in the middle of the room
One of the most important aspects of Feng shui is to allow the chi to flow throughout your room and reach you at multiple angles. If one side of your bed is against the wall, this will not happen. Instead, place your bed in the middle of the room, so that each side is easily accessible for you and the flowing energy. To make the Feng shui even more prominent, it helps to ground the bed from either side – so if you can, place two of the same bedside tables or lamp each side of the bed as this grounds the energy. This not only keeps the energy centered, but it also keeps you centered, which will help you get a better night’s sleep.
Remove any TVs, laptops or screens
In today’s day and age, we rely on technology like our mobile phones, our televisions, our laptops, computers or tablets to keep us company when we’re in the bedroom. They’ve now become so ingrained in our lives that some people even sleep with them in the bed! However, whenever you have these items in your bedroom, they will destroy the Feng shui. They emit sound waves and signals which affect the energy, as well as bringing our attention back to work and daily stressors which can affect our own chi. Removing them from your room completely will improve the feng shui and your livelihood.
Remove any plants or flowers from your bedroom
As much as it can be a lovely thought to fill our bedrooms with the luscious smells and sights of plants and flowers, they disrupt the flow of energy and the Feng shui in your bedroom as they possess yang. This yang is extremely energetic and will create so much energy in your room that you will struggle to sleep because of it. Remove them from your bedroom if you can. If you can’t, removing them from your eye line while you’re in bed will improve the Feng shui a little.
Use soothing colors
If your bedroom is full of bright colors and patterns, you may find yourself getting stressed, irritated or restless when you try to sleep or chill out in your bedroom. This is because these colors distract your chi and your energy, creating a restless environment lacking Feng shui. If you wish to improve your bedroom’s Feng shui, you’ll need to use colors that are associated with the skin as these colors promote a clean flow of energy. This means you’ll need to paint your room in soothing colors and soft hues, like whites, beiges, and soft browns. You’ll soon notice the difference.
So if you’re looking to improve the Feng shui in your bedroom or design your bedroom according to Feng shui, you need to start off small. When thinking about your room, ask yourself whether there are any distractions, or whether the flow of energy will be obstructed. From here, you will begin to improve the Feng shui.
