In 1997, Farley had worked hard at moving past his troubles with illicit substances, and it seemed like his health was on the up once more. Unfortunately, he was unhappy with the work he was doing and some of the films he was making, prompting him to seek solace in illicit substances once more.
This led to further health problems for Farley, and proved to be too much for his body. On December 18, 1997, he passed away in his apartment in Chicago.
