Farley’s first two major films, ‘Tommy Boy’ and ‘Black Sheep’, were both reasonable successes that gave Farley a foothold in establishing a career as a comedic film actor. However, despite the fact that they were only mild box-office successes, the two films found much greater success in different formats.
Both ‘Tommy Boy’ and ‘Black Sheep’ became big hits of home video, becoming sleeper hits and making Farley something of a home video star. As such, his work on those films reached far further than he ever thought it had.
