After leaving ‘SNL’, Farley wanted to become a well-respected comedic actor in films – and he missed out on what could have been one of his best roles as a result of scheduling problems. The 1996 dark comedy ‘The Cable Guy’ is a film about a man who unsuspectingly becomes friends with a cable installer with spurious intentions.
After Farley had to turn down the project, his part went to actor and comedian Jim Carrey – who received acclaim for his performance.
