It seems that those small paychecks might not have just been down to Vanderpump Rules being a new show. The TV executives at Bravo were reportedly doubtful over how the series would perform on their network. They had so little faith in the spin-off that they believed it’d be a colossal flop. Their reason for being so concerned? Apparently, it wasn’t so much to do with the cast or the content, but rather how it would appeal to their audience.
The shows Bravo generally air often portray a life of luxury that most viewers can’t relate to. Audiences apparently like this insight into a different world, and Vanderpump Rules didn’t offer enough of it. The cast members – bar Mrs. Vanderpump, of course – couldn’t afford to live in luxurious apartments, so there was nothing particularly extraordinary about their lives. Fortunately, that didn’t matter to viewers in the end.
