ABC producers didn’t just hate the original premise and name of the show, but they hated the entire idea of having three women lead an hour-long show. However, thankfully, after numerous rewrites and head-scratching moments from writers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg, ABC eventually jumped on board and agreed to commission a pilot.
However, Spelling already had a ‘guaranteed arrangement’ with them that ensured he had at least one commission, so actually, it looks like the producers had no choice but at least to give the show a try.
