So why were they called angels? Well, Spelling had a huge painting that hung on one of his office walls that depicted three female angels. So one day, when cast member Kate Jackson came into his office for a meeting, she randomly suggested: “Why don’t you call them angels?” – and it turns out that Spelling, of course, loved the idea.
At first thought, they suggested calling them ‘Harry’s Angels’, but with another show called ‘Harry O’ airing at the time, they decided to go with ‘Charlie’ instead.
