Joy admitted that she was “hopeful” that Gene now had a way to see his family. However, Gene wanted to see what the rest of the world looked like after he had to imagine it for so long. He continued to look around the rest of the set.
It turned out that Gene could now see the rest of the people in the audience, as well as make out their individual faces compared to the blurred vision he had before. It might not have been a permanent solution, but this was the best view Gene had in years.
