One role that women have often had throughout the years of motorsports is to get the race underway. Instead of using lights, at drag races the action was often started by a woman on the track.
There have been various ways in which they choose to start the race, with the drop of a scarf being a popular one. Another is a pretty simple wave of the arms, like in this race. Once the woman drops her arms, it’s time for the drivers to hit the gas and go go go.
