Drew Carey plays an exaggerated fictionalized version of himself. He’s a nice guy who always tries to take the moral high ground but doesn’t always succeed, especially when it comes to his love and professional life. He works a typical 9-to-5 in the human resources department of the Winfred-Lauder department store and is surrounded by a cast of characters, from his boss to his boss’ sadistic secretary, that make his life complicated (and hilarious). He is on the search for “the one” and longs to spend his life with that special woman.
