At the beginning of the movie, Kevin was a bit scared of his neighbour Old Man Marley, the mysterious man who lived across the street and occasionally waved. But as Christmas Eve approaches and Kevin is still alone, Kevin finds his way to a church where Marley sits in the pews.
The two strike up a heartfelt conversation, one of the more touching points of the movie. Later, when Kevin is finally caught by the bandits, it’s Marley who steps in to save him by knocking the thieves out with a shovel.
