Dr. Ilene Markham, an orthodontist and Al’s main love interest on the show, is the sister of one of Jill’s colleagues. As per her love of matchmaking, Jill sets Al and ilene up, and the two hit it off.
Ilene and Al date each other from seasons three to five, and even get engaged. However, on their wedding day, they decide together that they shouldn’t go through with marriage and end things in a good way.
