If you’re going to go and buy an entire town in Georgia, you should expect to face financial trouble somewhere down the line. Kim Basinger took a massive risk by purchasing all that land – nearly 1,700 acres – and it was one that didn’t pay off.
The $20 million that she put in essentially went to waste after things started to fall through. It didn’t help that Basinger later turned her back on a film role and got taken to court because of it, forcing the actress to declare bankruptcy.
