In 1978, actor Tom Hanks married his college sweetheart, American actress Samantha Lewes. Lewes had already given birth to the couple’s eldest son, Colin, in 1977. In the early stages on Hanks’ career, Lewes remained supportive and consistently at his side. In 1982, she gave birth to the couple’s second child, their daughter Elizabeth.
However, the marriage eventually came to an end in 1987, when the couple divorced and Hanks moved on to date his infamous current-wife, Rita Wilson. Tragically, Lewes passed away from bone cancer in 2002.
