Despite playing Jed Clampett – a no-nonsense soul with little time for the more flowery aspects of life – Buddy Ebsen himself was quite prone to artistic expression, publishing a novel called ‘Kelly’s Quest’ in 2001.
The book takes the form of a collection of poems, and is centered around the coming of age of a young woman, and the lessons she learns on the road to adulthood. While it’s easy to dismiss celebrity-written novels as little more than a cash-in attempt, the novel was well-received by critics at the time.
