Despite a poor critical reputation, ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ was one of the biggest shows on TV, right up until its cancelation. The first season reported one of the biggest audience increases in TV history, eventually becoming the number one show of that year.
In addition, ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ remained in the top 20 shows for ratings until its last season – a feat that very few shows manage. To this day, 16 of the show’s episodes are on the list of the 100 most-watched episodes of television of all time.
