One of the things the show became most known for was the sprawling and luxurious mansion that the Clampetts move into in the show. While someone would be forgiven for thinking that such an opulent location would be very expensive to film in, the show’s creator, Paul Henning, actually managed to get it for a steal.
Henning was able to strike a deal with the mansion’s owner to film for the absolute pittance of $500, a deal that would be unthinkable nowadays.
