The role of Jane Hathaway – the secretary of the Clampetts’ banker Milburn Drysdale, who is forced to aid them in their escapades – was played by actress Nancy Kulp. While Kulp’s character is very fond of the Clampetts, Kulp and Buddy Ebsen, who played Jed Clampett, did not get along at all.
Their relationship was notoriously frosty, as they were on entirely different ends of the political spectrum. Ebsen even got involved when Kulp ran for Congress, recording an ad for her opponent Bud Shuster.
