After making the move into cinema, Max Baer eventually decided to capitalize on his ‘Beverly Hillbillies’ fame, and use his name to attract business. Baer – who has a degree in business administration – decided to license the ‘Beverly Hillbillies’ name from CBS, and use it to set up a casino based around the show.
Baer bought land to use and had ‘Beverly Hillbillies’ slot machines created, but difficulties with zoning and building regulations stymied progress. Nowadays, Baer’s plans have been put on hold for the foreseeable future.
