Joseph, the one adopted from the Ukraine, is now 29. He was adopted in 2005, when he was 14. He lived in an orphanage up till then, and for him, finding out he was going to be adopted, was truly a life-changing moment.
He could finally have a family, and “would never have to worry about being left behind.” He knows his fate would have been very different had he been left in the orphanage, to his own devices. Since he has special needs, it would have been beyond difficult for him to get by. But his luck was in the stars.
