It’s a common issue that hospitals are understaffed and overpopulated, and, even if they’re not, consider it this way. If every nurse, midwife, or doctor were to be beholden to the father or visitor, they’d be doubling their workload and the number of people they need to think of.
If you have fifteen women in labor, each with a partner or visitor, then you’re looking after thirty different people. Once the baby is born, we’re looking at forty-five if no one has twins, triplets, etc.
