By the way, if you think it’s strange that his Spy Kids nickname “Machete” is the same as his name in his eponymous film Machete in which he stars in, that’s because it’s the same character. Well, sort of.
Director and second cousin Robert Rodrugez originally had the idea of making a Machete movie, and starring Danny as the lead, but didn’t think the movie would get made, so he placed this same character in Spy Kids. Eventually the actual Machete film did get made, and to this day it’s considered the film he’s best known for.
