Television is all about characters. After all, the long-form storytelling medium of TV allows creators to weave winding, complicated stories that just aren’t possible in movies. Or, you know, they create characters that everyone immediately hates. This is about that second thing.
[post_page_title]Izzie Stevens (Grey’s Anatomy)[/post_page_title]
How could one character be beloved and yet reviled simultaneously? Just ask Katherine Heigl, who played Dr. Izzie Stevens on six seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. Fans loved her… but there are some pretty huge flaws others couldn’t look past. How about starting a totally-unethical relationship with a patient, and then making him go into critical condition to move him up the heart transplant list? How about almost breaking up a marriage, or constantly touting her “trailer park girl” upbringing as an excuse for everything? We loved Izzie… but were almost glad to see her vanish.
