In the show, Beth told her family that they couldn’t let the experience tear them apart. Beth wanted her experience with cancer to bring them all closer together. She said that if that was the worst of it, then all life can be is better afterward.
The surgery was mainly in her throat region, and while she was recovering, she was only allowed to speak for 15 minutes every hour. Just two months after her 13-hour surgery, Beth had been in good health.
