[post_page_title]The charity that honors her father[/post_page_title]
Despite not having had any children of her own, Dolly Parton reportedly loves them. She combined this love of the younger generation with her love of reading for a very special charity. The nonprofit, called Imagination Library, is aimed at fostering children’s love of reading by mailing books directly to the homes of preschoolers.
The program was founded, it’s been said, to honor Parton’s father who could neither read nor write. Her dad was said to have been immensely proud of his daughter’s choice, and got a kick out of people calling her “the book lady.”
