When Tara and Todd took their family skiing in Colorado, they never imagined it would be anything other than another wonderful vacation. Sure, they might have expected a few arguments and a fair bit of stress, but what family vacation is without that? However, their relaxing break soon took a dark turn after their 13-year-old daughter, Taylor, collided with a tree on the slopes. The girl was rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment, but nothing could be done to save her.
Her brain was unresponsive, and she ultimately passed away on March 15, 2010. In a matter of hours, the Storchs had been reduced to a family of four, and they had no idea how to cope with that. There was now a gaping hole in their lives where Taylor had once been, and they couldn’t imagine ever being able to fill it.
