Martina McBride was one of the first country divas to embrace the country-pop trend of the ‘90s. The decision led to five number one hits including A Broken Wing, Wrong Again, and I Love You. She met her now-husband John McBride in 1988 while renting his rehearsal space in Wichita, Kansas. While she was trying to build a music career for herself she sold merchandise at Garth Brooks’s shows to pay the bills. After one year of this he invited her to be his opening act.
