[post_page_title]Why he started the show [/post_page_title]
People start television shows for all sorts of reasons. Usually because they have a story to tell or a fun idea they want to explore, but Fred Rogers was quite the opposite. He ironically got into television because when he first saw the programming available, particularly for children, he hated it. He thought that television could be such an incredible teaching tool, but it was being poorly used. Instead of complaining and leaving it up to someone else to fix it, he decided that he would put out his own show.
