We all remember the beloved characters on the show, especially the puppets in the Land of Make Believe. What you might not know is that most of the characters on the show were inspired by, and based off of, people in Fred Rogers’ life. Queen Sarah was based on his wife Joanne, Lady Elaine Fairchild was based on his sister, and Daniel Tiger and King Friday were supposedly different versions of Fred himself. Additionally, Mr. McFeely was named after Fred’s grandfather, who shared his middle name.
