Sarah Jessica Parker may have played a witch in Hocus Pocus, but it turns out that someone in her family was once actually accused of being a real witch.
The actress’ tenth great grandmother, Esther Elwell, was accused of being a witch during the Salem Witch Trials in which hundreds of people in Massachusetts were convicted of being involved in witchcraft from 1692 to 1693. Luckily, Elwell ended up escaping trial after the prosecution for witchcraft was abolished.
