If it wasn’t for a friend of Tarek’s giving him a push, the show may have never have been made! One night the pair decided to film an audition tape that Tarek could send in to HGTV.
He didn’t hold high hopes that he would ever hear back. Well, that was where Tarek was wrong, as the network immediately got in contact with the future star to negotiate a contract. Initially they signed him up for 13 episodes; at present, the show has shot seven seasons.

HGTV is full of a whole host of fantastic home design programs – after all, it is in their name. This means there is plenty of competition to take home the top spot of their highest ranked show.
Flip or Flop just misses out on the top spot to Fixer Upper, making it the network’s second most favorite show overall. The series also regularly brings in around 2 million viewers per episode. Tarek and Christina have built quite the fanbase over the years.
