The drama that these rumors caused was immense, but it wasn’t a massive shock that things spun so out of control. Diana was often a source of controversy and scandal for the media, so this gave people yet another chance to talk about her.
Had the rumors been true, it certainly would have been the story of the century. However, that doesn’t excuse how things got blown so out of proportion. It’s no wonder the Princess seemed to hate her time in the limelight – it brought her nothing but trouble.
