A South African regulation that came into effect in 2015 denied minors access to their planes without the consent of both parents. Maisy’s mom was right there with her daughter so that wasn’t a problem, but her birth father was several hours away.
It was going to be impossible for Maisy to get onboard her flight without some written consent from her father, known as an affidavit. This was a real problem, but thankfully her father came up with a plan, despite being hundreds of miles away.
