There was something especially unique about this set of conjoined twins, however. The girls were born dicephalus twins – meaning that they are a rare kind of conjoined twins as they share one body and have two heads. The doctors didn’t expect their condition could lead to a full and rich life. For such a rare condition it was likely that they would have short lifespans. Most dicephalus infants don’t manage to live a long life beyond infancy. The girls were determined to survive, however, and that’s just what they did. With each day they would grow just a little bit more and began developing motor and speaking functions just as any other child.
