After he left Saturday Night Live, Macdonald got his own sitcom TV show entitled The Norm Show (later changed to Norm), that ran from 1999-2001. After the decline in ratings during the third season, ABC made the decision to cancel the show.
You would think that, having had experience writing for a popular sitcom, and being a very funny guy himself, that Norm would have been able to craft a long-running hit show. However, critics and audiences didn’t agree, and it doesn’t always work out like the way people hope.
