Selene is the main protagonist in the Underworld series. She was born in Hungary around 1383, and was turned into a vampire by the elder Viktor, after he had killed her entire family and spared her because she reminded him of his late daughter. After he tells tells her that Lycans (a breed of werewolves) had killed her family, she becomes a Death Dealer, hunting down Lycans and killing them. Eventually, she discovers the truth about her sire Viktor, and avenges her family’s death.
