Eleanor is a teenage vampire, born in 1804 in a brothel. Her mother, Clara, was abused and forced to work in the brothel by the cruel Ruthven. She discovered that by going to a certain island and wishing to die, she could become a vampire – and when Ruthven assaulted her daughter and left her with syphilis, she helped her go to the island as well. In the 21st century, Eleanor falls in love with a human, and helps him turn into a vampire, so he could survive despite having leukaemia.
