Elena Gilbert is just a normal high-school girl at the beginning of the show, trying to move past the death of her parents and taking care of her little brother, Jeremy. As she meets brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore, she gets pulled into the Supernatural world and turns into a vampire herself. Elena, who’s highly moral and kind, struggles with being a vampire at first, but she eventually finds her own path, and even becomes human again thanks to finding “the cure” for vampirism.
