Pulling in $145 when it opened, it was clear that “Detour” was not destined for success. In fact, the movie only walked away from the box office with $1,788 overall; that’s nothing in this day and age.
Considering the film’s cast included rising star Tye Sheridan, you’d think that audiences might have been swayed to give this one a go. However, with little in the way of promotion, few people took a detour to the movies to see what this thriller was all about.
